OCR Software with Thai Language Support
Shop desktop, server and OCR data capture solutions that have Thai language recognition capabilities.
Thai (Siamese) OCR Applications
Thai OCR converts combinations of Thai (Siamese) languages based on Thai alphabet into editable formats. This innovative recognition capability provides a competitive advantage that many OCR software programs do not have the capacity to support. For now only ABBYY has further advanced Thai OCR capabilities for more modern, versatile applications. ABBYY FineReader Pro and ABBYY FineReader Corp are your main choices for organizing automatic Thai document processing. And ABBYY Flexicapture and ABBYY Flexicapture Invoice are your best choices for larger scale Thai language document automation systems. Unfortunately, even ABBYY applications are rather limited and Handwritten OCR (ICR) and Business card OCR (BCR) are not supported for Thai languages. ABBYY FineReader Pro for Mac is your only choice if you have Apple systems and want to work with Thai documents.
ABBYY FineReader Server had separate language pack to add Thai OCR option. But since April of 2020 Thai language pack is included in ABBYY FineReader Server .
Kofax also promises that next large update will add Thai languages to OmniPage. But for now Kofax does not supports it.
What is OCR?
Optical Character Recognition (OCR) is a technology that converts typed, handwritten, or printed text from scanned documents and images into editable, searchable machine-readable data. Without OCR, a scanner simply takes a digital photograph of a page. Because the text in a standard image cannot be searched, copied, or modified, the data remains locked. OCR software solves this by analyzing the shapes of characters in an image and translating them into actual text that other software applications can read and process.
OCR software comes in desktop applications for personal use, batch scanning and server based OCR for businesses, and enterprise data capture applications for things like invoice processing, forms processing and hand-print recognition.
